Search the Quaker Collection Index

The Carlton Hill Index was created as a name index to many of the older documents in the Carlton Hill archive, one of the two Quaker archives held in Leeds University Library. The index has been transferred to our new Collections Management system but is not fully integrated with our main catalogue.

The names are predominantly those of the individual Quaker men and women who are recorded in surviving minute books and associated documents of Knaresborough, Settle, and Brighouse Monthly Meetings of the Society of Friends, and of some of their constituent Preparative Meetings. About seventy documents, from the late 17th to the mid-20th century, have been indexed. There are nearly 40,000 records, but please note that many people are represented by multiple entries.
